Head of BGN: Eggs for the MBG Programme Must Be Locally Sourced
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, has instructed all Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG), also known as the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) kitchens, to use locally produced eggs.
“In accordance with the President’s wishes, eggs for the MBG programme must primarily be sourced from local production,” said Dadan in a BGN press release on Friday (15 May 2026).
In general, and not limited to eggs, SPPGs have been instructed to prioritise food supplies from local farmers and businesses to support the local economy.
“SPPGs are asked to prioritise local products and production,” said Dadan.
This policy is in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive that the egg requirements for the MBG programme must come from domestic production.
However, BGN does not set a uniform national menu, but rather establishes nutritional composition standards.
“BGN does not set a national menu, but creates nutritional composition standards. For this reason, we are placing nutritionists in each SPPG so that they can create menus based on local resource potential and local community preferences,” said Dadan.
To ensure the quality of the menu remains in accordance with nutritional standards, BGN places nutritionists in each SPPG.
They are responsible for creating menus based on local food potential while also ensuring that the nutritional needs of programme recipients are met.
