Head of BGN: Each SPPG Receives Rp 1 Billion per Month from MBG
The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, stated that every Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) receives funding of around Rp 1 billion per month from the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. This funding is claimed to drive the economy at the local level. “On average, one SPPG will receive Rp 1 billion per month,” Dadan said in a written statement on Thursday, 19 March 2026.
According to Dadan, the funds are channelled directly to the regions through a virtual account mechanism from the State Treasury Service Office (KPPN). He noted that approximately 93% of BGN’s budget flows directly to SPPG units across Indonesia.
Currently, the number of SPPG units has reached 25,574. With this scheme, Dadan said there is an even distribution of the budget to various regions.
He gave an example in West Java, which has around 5,000 SPPG units. With that number, the money circulation in the region is estimated to reach Rp 5 trillion per month. In 2.5 months of programme implementation, the total funds circulating are said to have reached Rp 11–12 trillion. “This is what drives the wheels of the economy in every region,” he said.
Dadan conveyed that the MBG programme was designed from the start not only for nutritional fulfilment but is also expected to boost the local economy. The food needs in the programme are expected to be supplied from local production, thereby opening markets for farmers and local businesses.
In addition, the presence of SPPG is said to create new job opportunities in the regions, from operational staff to nutrition experts recruited from the surrounding community.
According to Dadan, several regional governments are beginning to encourage that the funds entering through this programme be spent on local raw materials. He hopes for economic circulation within the same region or a circular economy.
“The money entering one region is spent by purchasing raw materials available in that region,” he said.
