Head of Bappenas Supports International Conference on Jabodetabek

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Rachmat Pambudy, supports the agenda of an international conference that discusses the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) metropolitan area.

The conference, named ‘The 8th International Conference of Jabodetabek Study Forum’, will be held in July 2026, organised by IPB University, the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and Kyoto University.

“This forum is expected to be more than just an ordinary academic conference, but a strategic space that can formulate strategies, policies, and even concrete steps for implementation,” said Rachmat Pambudy when receiving a delegation of representatives from various institutions, according to an official statement in Jakarta, Thursday.

He also emphasised the importance of a clear direction so that the conference produces impactful recommendations and does not stop at mere conceptual discussions.

The complexity of urban problems in Jakarta and its surroundings makes in-depth studies on the management of the megacity increasingly urgent.

“Urban problems in Jakarta are very complex. Therefore, I am very grateful and appreciate the initiative to hold a conference like this. Hopefully, this forum can produce real solutions,” said the Head of Bappenas.
