Haze from forest and land fires envelops Palembang

Haze from forest and land fires (karhutla) is enveloping Palembang, South Sumatra.

Based on Himawari-9 satellite imagery monitored by BMKG on 5 September 2026 at 10:00 WIB, the spread of smoke resulting from forest and land fires in South Sumatra, Riau, Jambi, West Sumatra, Riau Islands, Bangka Belitung Islands, and South Papua is moving towards the northwest-north.

Meanwhile, in West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, and North Kalimantan, the smoke is moving towards the north-northeast.
