Haze engulfs Banjarmasin

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Thick haze again blanketed the South Kalimantan capital of Banjarmasin on Thursday morning but gradually lifted in the afternoon.

Despite the pollution, many motorists in the city were not wearing masks to protect their lungs and eyes.

The smog is believed to come from illegal land clearing operations in the Barito Kuala and Pulang Pisau regencies in Central Kalimantan. -- Antara
