Haze covers Pontianak

PONTIANAK, West Kalimantan: The West Kalimantan provincial capital of Pontianak has been covered by haze recently due to a temperature increase caused by a change in the seasons.

The Meteorology and Geophysics Agency at Supadio Airport said that Pontianak was entering the dry season this month, with a daily air temperature of between 32 and 33 Celsius degrees on average.

At night the haze thickens.

Local people said that the temperature was very hot in the morning and afternoon, making outdoor activities uncomfortable.

Although drivers claimed the haze did not affect visibility on the roads, many complained that their eyes were irritated.

Some residents have reported respiratory problems.

The air temperature is 29 degrees Celsius or 83 degrees Fahrenheit at night, with a humidity of 85 percent. Haze occurs at around 79 degrees Fahrenheit or 26 degrees Celsius. -- Antara
