Havaianas Partners with Luna Maya Nawasena Foundation to Channel Donations for School Renovation
Havaianas has channelled a donation to support the renovation of educational facilities at Madrasah Nurul Faizin in Pamekasan, East Java. The Rp171 million donation stems from the “Closer in Every Step” campaign, where 1% of every Havaianas product purchase during the campaign period is dedicated to creating a more suitable learning environment for students.
Through this initiative, Havaianas is partnering with the Luna Maya Nawasena Foundation to provide support to Madrasah Nurul Faizin, located in Dusun Berkongan, Desa Bangkes, Kecamatan Kadur, Pamekasan Regency. The school serves 53 students aged 7-12 from economically disadvantaged families.
Several classrooms at the madrasah still face various facility limitations. The absence of ceilings causes the rooms to feel hot due to direct exposure from the roof, and the worn, non-tiled floors generate dust that often dirties students’ books and learning materials.
The programme will renovate several school facilities, including six classrooms, one library room, and the teachers’ office, to create a more comfortable learning environment that supports teaching and learning activities for the students. In addition to support for school facility renovations, the programme includes the provision of Havaianas sandals as part of efforts to meet their daily needs.
“We believe that small steps can bring meaningful impact. Through the ‘Closer in Every Step’ campaign, we want to invite consumers to participate in bringing positive change to the community. Consumer involvement is an important part of realising this initiative, as every purchase of Havaianas products during the campaign period contributes to supporting school renovations and providing a better learning experience for the students,” said Vice President of Footwear & Active at Kanmo Group, Inderpreet Singh, quoted from a press release received on Thursday (2/4).
As part of this series of initiatives, Havaianas and the Luna Maya Nawasena Foundation also held activities at Madrasah Nurul Faizin, marked by the symbolic handover of donations in the form of cash assistance and Havaianas sandals, as well as communal activities with the students.
A total of 53 students, 22 teachers, and 50 local residents received Havaianas sandal donations to support their daily activities. The event was attended by Luna Maya, founder of the Luna Maya Nawasena Foundation, who directly interacted with the students and school community.
“We believe that access to a proper learning environment is essential for children’s development. Through collaboration with Havaianas, we hope to help create a more comfortable learning space for students at Madrasah Nurul Faizin and bring positive impact to the community. We also hope this initiative can inspire many people to share kindness through simple steps in everyday life,” concluded Luna Maya.
