Hasyim irked over far-fetched promises

YOGYAKARTA: The running mate of presidential candidate Megawati Soekarnoputri, Hasyim Muzadi, lashed out on Monday at candidates who made unrealistic promises during the election campaign.

"The president and vice president used to be powerful, but after reform their power has been encroached upon by powerful business lobbies and legislatures.

"I am surprised that the candidates are still making far- fetched promises to people during the election campaign," Hasyim said in Yogyakarta. -- JP
