Hasty assumption

A vice president, or "veep" must be able to work with the president. This is specified in the Constitution of 1945. The candidate veep must also be able to work with the president elect.
However, if somebody states that "a candidate veep must be able to work with Pak Harto," it is both odd and confusing.
We all know of Pak Harto's capabilities and success during his term of leadership. But we cannot say with certainty that he will be RI President from 1998 to 2003, because the candidate for that period must be able to work with Pak Harto.
The general election has not started. It is too early to make such statements. It may mar Pak Harto's good reputation as a statesman.
