Hasto Reveals Content of Prabowo-Megawati Meeting at Palace Today

PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto has confirmed a meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and PDI-P General Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (19/3) afternoon. In the meeting, Megawati was accompanied by her daughter, House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani. Hasto described the encounter between Megawati and Prabowo as a gathering of two old friends. “In the meeting between the two leaders, they discussed strategic matters concerning the nation’s and state’s issues, as well as various geopolitical concerns,” Hasto stated in a written release. Hasto noted that the meeting took place in a cordial manner and lasted for more than two hours. “Ibu Megawati’s vast experience, particularly as the Fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia who successfully navigated multidimensional crises, including various policy approaches that always emphasise the importance of a sense of priority and sense of urgency, was one of the topics discussed in the meeting,” Hasto said. On geopolitics, Hasto mentioned that the meeting covered Indonesia’s pioneering role in the Asia-Africa Conference, the Non-Aligned Movement, and various important roles in building a new world order through an active independent foreign policy. Hasto stated that the meeting between President Prabowo and Megawati reflects the nation’s culture of mutual cooperation. The meeting, filled with dialogue and deliberation, he added, is aimed at serving the interests of the people, nation, and state. The Prabowo-Megawati meeting took place at Merdeka Palace on Thursday afternoon. In the meeting, Megawati was accompanied by her daughter Puan Maharani, while President Prabowo was joined by the Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s Central Executive Board.
