Indonesia’s fifth president and PDIP General Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri received visits from several ambassadors. PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto revealed the content of Megawati’s meeting with these ambassadors from friendly nations.

Hasto initially stated that Megawati is open to meeting with ambassadors from friendly countries. For Hasto, Megawati possesses the capacity as one of Indonesia’s important figures.

“Mrs Mega serves as a primary source regarding Indonesia’s history, related to Bung Karno, Bung Karno’s struggles, and also Mrs Mega’s leadership as the fifth president. Thus, Mrs Mega is open to receiving visits from ambassadors of friendly countries,” said Hasto Kristiyanto at the PDIP Party School in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, on Saturday (18/4/2026).

Hasto said that Megawati also took positions on various current global events. He mentioned that the meeting discussed geopolitical issues and their relevance to the challenges faced today.

“And then when seeing injustice, Mrs Mega also takes a stance. Thus, Mrs Mega sent a letter of condolence over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatullah Khamenei, and also offered congratulations when Iran’s highest leader was successfully re-established. That is what Mrs Mega did,” said Hasto.

“Likewise, the Ambassador from Pakistan, yesterday the Ambassador from Germany, and then also awaiting the Ambassador from the United Kingdom, from Australia, and from Vietnam,” Hasto continued.

According to him, Megawati communicated with the ambassadors about bilateral relations between Indonesia and friendly countries.

“Yes, all as friends to jointly discuss geopolitical issues and also their relevance to the challenges faced today, especially in building bilateral relations with those friendly countries,” he added.

Previously, Indonesia’s fifth president and PDIP General Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri received the German Ambassador to Indonesia, Ralf Beste. The meeting discussed the current geopolitical situation.

The meeting took place at Megawati’s residence in Menteng, Jakarta, on Friday (17/4/2026). In that meeting, Megawati was accompanied by PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto, PDIP DPP Chairman Ahmad Basarah, and Executive Director of the Megawati Institute Hilmar Farid.

“Mrs Megawati and Ambassador Ralf Beste discussed geopolitics, including the current situation in the Middle East and the Asia-Africa Conference (KAA) in Bandung, which will be commemorated its 71st anniversary tomorrow,” said Hasto.

The meeting lasted approximately one hour. Upon being welcomed by Megawati, the German Ambassador said he had just visited Bandung and seen the KAA Museum.

“I toured to better understand Indonesia. I just went to Bandung and visited the KAA Museum,” said Ambassador Ralf.

Hasto said the German Ambassador was impressed by Sukarno’s role in mobilising the awakening of nations in the Asia and Africa regions.

“Impressed by the history of Bung Karno’s pioneering role in the KAA. According to the German Ambassador, the thoughts and spirit of the KAA remain relevant,” said Hasto.
