The Chair of the Housing Task Force, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, has pledged to prioritise civil servants, particularly junior state employees, in gaining access to housing. Hashim made this commitment during the inauguration of a vertical housing complex built on PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) land as part of the three million homes programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.

“In addition to PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), I have already promised that all civil servants, junior civil servants who have not yet obtained homes and housing, must also receive priority,” Hashim said in Jakarta on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Although the housing is constructed on KAI land, Hashim hopes the units will not be limited to new civil servants working at the Ministry of Transportation alone. “Civil servants are not only from the Ministry of Transportation, sir. Of course this is land, but also civil servants from other ministries. I think that is a promise we have all made—we must be fair,” said the younger brother of President Prabowo.

It is known that KAI is officially developing apartment blocks near Manggarai Station in South Jakarta. Beyond Jakarta, housing projects are being built in three other major cities: Bandung, Semarang, and Surabaya.

The KAI apartment complex in Jakarta will comprise eight towers standing 12 storeys high, consisting of Block F covering 15,014 square metres and Block G covering 6,925 square metres.

Hashim has requested that the vertical housing be built to 24 storeys instead of the planned 12 storeys by KAI. “Because land is scarce and limited. If possible, 24 storeys,” Hashim said.

Hashim also stated that President Prabowo wants the three million homes programme to be implemented promptly. Hashim believes that the vertical housing development by KAI can accelerate the realisation of Prabowo’s project.

Moreover, in addition to Jakarta, the development is being carried out simultaneously in Bandung, Semarang, and Surabaya. “To be frank, I can see and report to him that, with the participation of KAI officials, it will soon be realised,” Hashim said.

Beyond this, Hashim also wants to dispel the impression that only middle and upper-class citizens can own decent housing. The existence of the Housing Task Force, he stated, aims to accommodate home ownership for all segments of society, including those with low incomes.

Accordingly, Hashim claims that the fifth principle of Pancasila is not merely an empty slogan. “So that the people truly feel the tangible benefits of Pancasila’s presence as the state ideology,” he said. “Not just talk. NATO—no action, talk only.”
