Hashim Speaks Frankly: Prabowo-Gibran Programmes Are Good, But This Is Their Weakness
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Housing Task Force Chairman Hashim Djojohadikusumo has spoken frankly about the implementation of government programmes under President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. According to him, the government’s challenge is no longer simply creating programmes, but ensuring that these programmes actually work on the ground.
The statement was made by Hashim while attending the groundbreaking of an affordable housing project in the Manggarai area of Jakarta on Friday (21/8/26). He urged that the implementation of government programmes receive serious attention because the quality of policy is ultimately determined by its execution.
“So, friends have also entrusted this to me. Good programme, good programme, but execution, execution. Everyone says Mr Prabowo and Mr Gibran’s programmes are good, but the weakness is in execution. Let us be frank, we are open, yes,” said Hashim.
The evaluation was based on his observations of a number of government programmes. He assessed that implementation issues need to be discussed openly so that the government can address shortcomings as they arise.
One programme he then touched upon was the Free Nutritious Meals programme, or MBG. The programme is one of the main initiatives of the Prabowo-Gibran administration, involving many parties across various regions.
“One example is BGN, MBG, which Mr Ara (Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas) and I have monitored from the beginning, sir. This is my comrade in arms, Mr Ara,” said Hashim.
According to Hashim, monitoring of government programmes needs to be carried out from the earliest stages. Such oversight is necessary so that various problems that emerge during implementation can be quickly identified and addressed.
