Hashim says Prabowo is the only Indonesian president with oil business experience

Special Presidential Envoy for Energy and Climate Hashim Djojohadikusumo says Prabowo Subianto is the only President of the Republic of Indonesia to have experience in the oil business. He made the remark at the Indonesia Petroleum Association (IPA) Convex 2026 event at ICE BSD, Tangerang. “I also want to tell the audience that the only President in the Republic of Indonesia who has experience as an oil entrepreneur is the current president, Prabowo Subianto,” Hashim said. “Because he used to be the chairman of the board of my company. Mr Prabowo, for seven years, was the chief commissioner of my company, which operates in oil in Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan,” Hashim explained. According to Hashim, this experience gives Prabowo a direct understanding of the challenges faced by oil and gas investors when investing overseas. In this regard, Hashim explained that contract certainty, political stability, and investment security are the key factors for investors to enter. He said that the Indonesian oil and gas sector still has great potential. “We have a very bright future, very promising, but conditional. The condition is legal certainty, fiscal terms, and political stability, and there is security and law and order,” he added. (hrp/hns)
