Hashim reminds of fairness principle in Manggarai Affordable Housing programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Housing Task Force (Satgas) Hashim Djojohadikusumo has reminded that the implementation of the Manggarai Affordable Housing programme must proceed on the principle of fairness and must not be misused by certain parties, by applying a one-buyer-one-unit rule.
Hashim asked programme managers to ensure that no party buys housing in large quantities and then transfers it to other people.
“So this is what we are asking to be really looked at, yes. Don’t let it be bought up in bulk. Out of 3,000, a certain person buys 300, 500, then entrusts it to someone, entrusts it to their driver, under the driver’s name, under the office boy’s name,” he said at the Groundbreaking of Manggarai Affordable Housing in Jakarta on Friday.
“So we must be fair, one customer, one interested buyer, one housing unit,” he added.
He assessed that strengthening execution is an important challenge in running various government programmes.
Furthermore, Hashim said the government will continue to expand the development of affordable housing with the transit-oriented development (TOD) concept.
The development of these areas will be directed to various regions, especially areas that have strategic land around stations.
“This is not the first and the last. There will be one in Kampung Bandan from Qatar, then with Astra, then possibly in Bandung there is a place, I hear in Surabaya, in Semarang, wherever there are stations with large land areas, that is where we will build this TOD system,” he said.
Hashim stressed that the construction of affordable housing is part of joint work across ministries and agencies to ensure that the public has access to decent housing.
The Manggarai housing, built in a strategic area, consists of Block G, Block F, and Block H with a land area of approximately 2.2 hectares.
The project will deliver 3,784 vertical housing units in eight towers with supporting facilities in the form of 150 retail units to support the area.
The housing is targeted for completion within 18 months while maintaining railway operational safety as the top priority.
KAI has confirmed that Manggarai Housing will be designated for low-income communities in accordance with government requirements and will prioritise good governance in its implementation.
