Jakarta — The head of the Housing Task Force, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, has disclosed that certain parties are attempting to exploit the three million houses development programme currently being implemented by President Prabowo Subianto.

Hashim made these remarks during the launch of residential development in support of the three million houses programme in Manggarai, Jakarta, on Monday (16 March 2026).

Hashim emphasised that land owned by state-owned enterprises (SOEs) must be utilised for public benefit, particularly for people’s housing development, rather than being sold at market prices.

According to him, Prabowo has affirmed that SOE land belongs to the Indonesian people, and its use must be directed towards supporting subsidised housing programmes.

He revealed that certain parties are attempting to exploit the programme to reap substantial profits, including by securing allocations of apartment units in strategic locations before reselling them for gain.

“Someone told me that in strategic locations, they could request allocations of a thousand apartments or five hundred apartments, and then resell them to make five times the profit,” he said.

Hashim stressed that such practices must not occur in the implementation of the three million houses programme.

Additionally, he called for careful attention to the quality of people’s housing construction to ensure public satisfaction with development outcomes.

To this end, he urged all parties involved in the programme to strengthen oversight to ensure that housing development proceeds in line with programme objectives and delivers genuine benefit to the public.
