Jakarta – Hashim Djojohadikusumo, Chairman of the Housing Task Force, has stated that he will not be involved in the three million housing programme initiated by the Prabowo Subianto administration.

This was conveyed by Hashim during the launch ceremony for Housing Development in Support of the 3 Million Housing Programme at Manggarai Station in Jakarta on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Initially, Hashim recalled his cement factory, which he had sold around 2000-2001. He imagined the potential profits he could have earned from the current programme had he still owned the cement factory. However, he declared that he would not engage in any business related to this three million housing programme.

“With this programme, if I had a cement factory, wow… that would be extraordinary. But that’s it, it’s done. And we have already agreed, and I have agreed that I personally and my family will not be involved, yes. This is all for contractors, and we have no connection,” Hashim said in his remarks.

Hashim did not deny that many parties are attempting to profit from President Prabowo’s programme. Besides cement factories, land providers are also trying to participate in the programme for maximum profit.

Nevertheless, Prabowo, according to Hashim, has made clear that state-owned enterprise land must not be sold at market prices, as this land actually belongs to the people.

“Because to be frank, there are parties that want to make a profit, sir. By (wanting to sell at) market value and so forth. So, I think this is already clear, I think Pak Bobi (the director-general of the State Railways Company) already knows this and I am confident that with this, everything will be fine,” he said.

Furthermore, Hashim stated that the construction of 3 million housing units represents the realisation of the fifth principle of Pancasila, namely social justice for all Indonesian people.

The Special Envoy to the President for Climate and Energy emphasised that home ownership in Indonesia should not be limited only to the upper-middle class.

“Therefore, the Housing Task Force was formed two years ago to accelerate this process to fulfil our fifth principle. So that Pancasila is not merely empty slogans. That we can realise it immediately,” Hashim explained.

Hashim expressed hope that the public will feel the direct benefits of the fifth principle of Pancasila.
