Hashim Affirms Indonesia as a Safe Country for Investment

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Advisory Board, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, has affirmed that Indonesia is a safe country for global investors and business players to conduct their operations. Hashim stated that Indonesia is committed to the principle of non-alignment, or a free and active foreign policy, which makes the country open to investment from various nations. “We have firmly upheld a policy we call non-bloc. In other words, we are a completely neutral country,” he said at the Indonesia-Thailand Business Forum in Jakarta on Tuesday. He noted that Indonesia receives investment from various countries, ranging from Russia, China, and the United States to Europe, Japan, and Australia. On the occasion, Hashim also reminded attendees that relations between Indonesia and Thailand have been closely intertwined for a long time. He said the two countries share the experience of facing similar economic challenges, including the 1997 Asian financial crisis. He remarked that during that crisis, both Indonesia and Thailand experienced economic pressure. However, companies from both nations managed to survive and demonstrated business resilience. According to Hashim, the economic linkages between the two countries are also evident in various trade and industrial activities.
