Global recognition demonstrates that the development of social and political sciences at Hasanuddin continues to advance towards international academic standards.

Makassar – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Hasanuddin University has achieved an international milestone by entering the top 300 in the global QS World University Rankings through the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 scheme.

In the latest rankings, the politics field achieved a position of 301–400 globally, marking international recognition of the quality of education and research within FISIP Hasanuddin.

Faculty Dean Prof Sukri stated in Makassar on Tuesday that FISIP Hasanuddin’s entry into the QS by Subject ranking represents the collective effort of all faculty members. He explained that global recognition demonstrates that the development of social and political sciences at Hasanuddin continues to advance towards international academic standards.

This quality improvement effort aligns with the Rector’s directive encouraging all faculties to maximise various international ranking indicators.

“This ranking is not merely about position, but more importantly about recognition of the various efforts undertaken by the academic community in developing education, research, and community service,” Prof Sukri added.

Prof Sukri noted that FISIP Hasanuddin’s inclusion in the QS by Subject ranking also has strategic impact on campus internationalisation. One of the most tangible impacts is increased opportunity to attract international students to pursue studies at FISIP Hasanuddin.

Furthermore, global recognition through QS Ranking also has potential to expand opportunities for international research collaboration. Researchers from various countries typically consider institution reputation and global ranking position when establishing research partnerships.

As a strategic step forward, FISIP Hasanuddin will continue to strengthen various QS assessment indicators, particularly in scientific publications, academic reputation, and graduate reputation in the workforce.

This will be accomplished through increased research collaboration, strengthened postgraduate programmes, and faculty funding support for various key performance indicators (IKU).

FISIP Hasanuddin is also encouraging students, particularly at master’s and doctoral levels, to actively publish research results in reputable international journals. Furthermore, research strengthening through thematic research groups (TRG) continues to be developed to enhance research quality and impact.

“We are also endeavouring to expand research collaboration and publications with various international partners. Undergraduate students are also encouraged to participate in joint research activities with foreign partners so that research results produced are not merely stored as academic reports, but can be published widely,” the Dean said.
