Hasanuddin Airport Launches Inaugural "Mecca Route" Service
Makassar (ANTARA) - Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar, South Sulawesi, has stated its full readiness to serve the departure of prospective Hajj pilgrims for 1447 Hijriah/2026 AD by introducing the inaugural “Mecca Route” service.
“This readiness for the service is carried out comprehensively, from organising the pilgrim service flow, preparing supporting facilities, to operational personnel support,” said the General Manager of Hasanuddin International Airport, Ruly Artha, in Makassar on Monday.
The “Mecca Route” service is a special facility that enables pilgrims to complete Saudi Arabian immigration processes at the departure airport.
Thus, upon arrival in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims no longer need to undergo immigration checks, making arrival times more efficient.
He stated that this is to ensure the departure process runs safely, orderly, and smoothly during this year’s Hajj season.
According to him, the airport has prepared seven Mecca Route counters to support the pre-departure Saudi immigration document checks.
In addition, Hasanuddin Airport has also prepared various supporting facilities such as pilgrim holding areas, boarding lounges, and worship facilities to enhance comfort during the departure process.
On the security side, Ruly said that 33 Airport Security personnel have been assigned at the Makassar Hajj Dormitory to conduct checked baggage inspections, prevent the entry of prohibited items, and ensure all aviation security procedures are met.
