Hasan withdraws from IAAF election

MONTE CARLO (AFP): Jailed Indonesian athletics official
Mohammad 'Bob' Hasan has formally withdrawn from forthcoming
International Amateur Athletic Federation elections, the body
announced Friday.

Hasan - a crony of former Indonesian dictator President
Suharto - was jailed for six years earlier this year after being
found guilty of corruption charges.

As president of the Indonesian Athletics Federation he had
been hoping to run in the IAAF's Congress elections and had
already been proposed for a place on the council.
