Hasan Tiro's existence
Hasan Tiro's existence
The government says it will sue Hasan Tiro, an Acehnese who is now a Swedish citizen, for disrupting the agreement between the Indonesian government and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) to continue their dialog in Geneva, Switzerland.
This is indeed strange logic which shows the government's powerlessness to handle the Aceh question.
The main question is what Indonesians have to do with Hasan Tiro. He is a Swedish citizen and the Swedish government has said it cannot do anything against him because he is free to express his political convictions.
Clearly, the Aceh question has nothing to do with Hasan Tiro. There are not many choices left to solve this question. The military option is out of the question. Violence will breed new violence leading to a new circle of vicious inhumanities.
The best option is an amicable solution through negotiation with GAM based on trust. The case of a GAM spokesperson being arrested right after the negotiations were completed, should never happen again.
Don't waste time bothering about Hasan Tiro. Aceh is the concern of the Indonesian nation, not a foreign citizen.
