Hasan Nasbi's New Role in Prabowo's Cabinet: Strengthening the Communications Sector

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Hasan Nasbi as Special Advisor to the President for Communications. The inauguration was based on Presidential Decree 53/P of 2026 on the Appointment of the Special Advisor to the President for Communications. “Appointing Hasan Nasbi as Special Advisor to the President for Communications,” stated the master of ceremonies during the inauguration at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (27/4/2026). After being inaugurated, Hasan Nasbi revealed that Prabowo had given him a mandate in public communications. He noted that the position of Special Advisor to the President for Communications differs from the Head of the Presidential Communications Office or Presidential Communication Office (PCO), which he previously held. “Today, I have been tasked by President Prabowo as a special advisor in the field of communications and media,” said Hasan. “To further strengthen the communications sector needed by the government so that messages intended for the public can be better conveyed and understood by society,” added Hasan Nasbi. Although occupying the position of Special Advisor to the President for Communications, he declined to be called the presidential spokesperson. “However, if I am ordered by the President to step forward again (as spokesperson), then I must be ready. If I indeed have to meet with media friends again, I am ready,” said Hasan Nasbi.
