Hasan Nasbi states dedication of five journalists deserves respect

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Special Adviser to the President for Communication, Hasan Nasbi, stated that the dedication and courage of five journalists who lost contact while performing their duties covering the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau deserve respect.

He noted that these journalists were fulfilling their responsibility to provide accurate and essential information to the public, even amidst high-risk disaster situations.

“Their dedication, courage, and service are worthy of our respect. In disaster situations, journalistic work serves as a vital information bridge needed by the community,” Hasan told ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday.

He also expressed deep condolences to the families of the five journalists and three other members of the group who went missing while covering the volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau on Monday (7/9).

“We all share the deep grief and anxiety of the families of the five journalists and the three other group members who went missing while covering the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau,” he said.

He added that prayers and hopes continue to accompany the journalists, their families, and their editorial colleagues who are still awaiting certainty regarding their whereabouts.

Hasan also extended his appreciation to all SAR elements, volunteers, authorities, the community, and the press members involved in the search efforts.

He expressed hope that every new credible lead would be followed up to locate the journalists and the other members of the group.

“The families deserve clear and transparent information,” said Hasan.

Furthermore, he stated that support must continue to be provided to the families throughout the ongoing search process.

“May the families be given strength during this very difficult period of waiting. We have an obligation to ensure they do not face this uncertainty alone,” he concluded.
