Hasan Basri Appointed Deputy Chairman of the DPR's Ethics Council, Replacing Agung Widyantoro

The leadership of the DPR RI and members of the Council’s Honourable Chamber (Mahkamah Kehormatan Dewan, MKD) have approved Hasan Basri Agus becoming Deputy Chairman of the MKD from the Golkar Party faction, replacing Agung Widyantoro.

Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal said the change of MKD leadership was in accordance with a letter from the Golkar Party faction dated 18 August 2026. Hasan Basri Agus is a member of Commission VIII of the DPR RI.

“On behalf of the House leadership, we hereby appoint Drs H Hasan Basri Agus, Member Number 281, from the Golkar Party faction, as Deputy Chairman of the Council’s Honourable Chamber,” said Cucun at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 15 September 2026.

The replacement was made following a rotation of several commission leaders carried out by the Golkar Party faction at the start of the 2026-2027 session term. In that rotation, Agung Widyantoro was appointed Chairman of Commission X of the DPR RI, replacing Hetifah Sjaifudian.

With the replacement, the leadership structure of the MKD of the DPR RI remains one chairman and four deputy chairmen. The leadership consists of Chairman of the MKD Nazaruddin Dek Gam from the PAN faction, while the Deputy Chairmen are I Wayan Sudirta from the PDIP faction, Hasan Basri Agus from the Golkar faction, Imron Amin from the Gerindra faction, and Adang Daradjatun from the PKS faction.

“On behalf of myself and the leadership of the DPR RI, we congratulate the honourable Dr H Hasan Basri Agus, who has been entrusted to become Deputy Chairman of the Honourable Chamber of the DPR RI,” he said.

Previously, the Golkar Party faction of the DPR RI rotated several commission and House body (AKD) leaders, including replacing the Chairman of Commission X and the Chairman of Commission XII of the DPR RI.

Chairman of the Golkar Party faction in the DPR RI M Sarmuji confirmed the rotation, which was set out in the Golkar Faction Letter Number SJ.00.1384 FPG/DPR RI/VIII/2026 dated 14 August 2026 and addressed to the Secretariat General of the DPR RI.

According to the letter received by ANTARA in Jakarta on Wednesday, 19 August 2026, the position of Chairman of Commission X of the DPR, previously held by Hetifah Sjaifudian, is now held by Agung Widyantoro. Meanwhile, the position of Chairman of Commission XII of the DPR, previously held by Bambang Patijaya, is now held by Melchias Markus Mekeng.
