Has Jamsostek suffered a loss?

Has Jamsostek suffered a loss?

From Rakyat Merdeka

It would indeed be a nightmare if PT Jamsostek or the Workers Social Protection Scheme loses Rp 106.56 billion from its purchase of PT Bumi Resources' shares. The shares were not worth buying because PT Bumi Resources is notorious for its frequent losses, and also there was no strong reason for Jamsostek to buy the shares.

How tragic that funds from the hard toil of workers are managed unprofessionally, and with indications of corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN).

As a member of Jamsostek's scheme, I would like to make some suggestions:

1. The House of Representatives (DPR) should summon PT Jamsostek's Board of Directors to clarify its investments in PT Bumi Resources and also others companies. Legislators should be more vigilant of matters related to the public. Don't only watch and control the government's policies and performance.

2. Trade unions and non-governmental organizations should not only be interested in revoking the manpower and transmigration minister's decree No. Kep-78/Men/2001 as the decree also asks for PT Jamsostek's Board's accountability regarding the investment of the workers' funds. The investments are believed to have not been profitable.

The print and electronic media, which is part of our society, is requested to be more critical of institutions managing the public's money, more so because mass media employees are themselves members of Jamsostek's scheme, and whose salaries are being deducted for Jamsostek contribution.
