Hary Tanoesoedibjo Ordered to Pay Rp 531 Billion Plus Interest to CMNP
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Central Jakarta District Court has sentenced businessman Hary Tanoesoedibjo to pay compensation to PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk (CMNP). The compensation value amounts to around Rp 531 billion, including interest.
Spokesperson for the Central Jakarta District Court, Sunoto, stated that the panel of judges ordered the payment to be made jointly and severally by PT MNC Asia Holding and Hary Tanoe.
“The panel sentences Defendants I and II jointly and severally to pay material damages of 28,000,000 US dollars,” said Sunoto in an official statement on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
The panel of judges also set interest at 6 percent per year from 9 May 2002 until full payment.
“Plus interest of 6 percent per year from 9 May 2002 until paid in full,” explained Sunoto.
In addition, the panel sentenced payment of immaterial damages of Rp 50 billion. The defendants are also required to pay court costs of Rp 5,024,000.
The panel of judges, led by Fajar Kusuma Aji, deemed that the defendants were proven to have committed unlawful acts.
“Declares that Defendants I and II have been proven to have committed unlawful acts that caused losses to the Plaintiff,” said Sunoto.
The lawsuit was filed by CMNP on 13 August 2025. The company owned by Jusuf Hamka demanded total compensation of Rp 118 trillion. This value consists of material losses of Rp 103 trillion and immaterial losses of Rp 16 trillion.
“The demand for material compensation of around Rp 103 trillion and immaterial of around Rp 16 trillion will continue to increase until paid in full along with the fines,” said CMNP’s legal counsel, R Primaditya Wirasandi.
