Harvesting Blessings from Sacrificial Animal Skins in West Bandung
West Bandung – Not only animal traders are reaping benefits during the 1447 Hijri year’s Idul Adha, but skin collectors are also benefiting. This is exemplified by Misto (48), a skin collector in Sariwangi Village, Parongpong District, West Bandung Regency, West Java.
On Thursday, 28 May 2026, Misto and his colleague were unloading cow hides from an open truck, with blood and waste still dripping and emitting a pungent odour. The sacrificial animal hides were to be sold to collectors but needed to be weighed first.
Misto then recorded the weight of each hide and calculated the payment he needed to make. After weighing, the cow and goat hides were stacked before being loaded onto a truck for transport. Misto will continue to collect cow and goat hides for sale over the next few days.
‘I’ve been in this line for about eight years, alhamdulillah. It’s seasonal; normally there’s a steady supply. It’s quite beneficial for the sacrifice committees, allowing them to earn extra money,’ Misto told reporters.
