Harvard Jewish Figure Abruptly Mentions New York's Muslim Mayor

Prominent Harvard Law School professor and senior lawyer Alan Dershowitz has launched a scathing attack on Jewish voters who supported New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, bluntly calling them ‘idiots’. The political move was deemed deeply misguided for embracing a candidate whose policies are considered contrary to their own identity. The harsh criticism immediately sparked heated debate within the local political landscape of the United States, particularly in the New York area.

Dershowitz made the sharp remarks during a political talk show hosted by former legendary New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. He suggested there was a major anomaly and political absurdity unfolding within the city’s internal community, expressing bewilderment that a city which once elected a tough figure like Giuliani could now elect a candidate like Mamdani. ‘It’s your city! It’s your city, Mr. Mayor. The same city that elected Rudy Giuliani elected Mamdani for the same office. It makes no sense. I mean, Mamdani should be the mayor of Tehran,’ Dershowitz told Giuliani.

Dershowitz further compared the political phenomenon in New York to a dark historical portrait, likening Mamdani’s voters to the German Jews who once gave political support to Adolf Hitler. He argued that Jewish voters in elite New York neighbourhoods have failed to learn from past historical mistakes and are trapped in a mindset that could harm their own community’s future. ‘My people, the idiot Jews in New York, who live on the Upper West Side, who live in Park Slope, who voted for Mamdani—reminds me of the 7,000 Jews who voted for Hitler,’ he added.

He recounted the historical fact that in 1932, before the outbreak of World War II in Europe, around 7,000 Jews formed a party and cast their votes to support Hitler’s movement, under the mistaken assumption that the dictator would benefit the German economy. Dershowitz and Giuliani agreed that nothing could awaken that group to the danger of Nazism at the time. Dershowitz also directed similar criticism at political support for Brad Lander, an anti-Israel Jewish-American politician who recently won a congressional primary in New York’s 10th district, unseating incumbent Dan Goldman with Mamdani’s backing.

The discussion also touched on national issues such as campaign finance limits and the status of transgender athletes in professional sports, following the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down President Donald Trump’s executive order seeking to end automatic birthright citizenship. The court reaffirmed the constitutional principle that almost everyone born on US soil is a citizen.
