Harry and Meghan Suddenly Move Their Children's School — Why?

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, have moved their children’s school for security reasons. The step was taken only days after the start of the new school year in Britain, where the couple have now settled after years of living in the United States.

The couple left Britain and stepped back from royal duties in 2020, when internal conflict engulfed the British Royal Family.

After that, Harry pursued years of legal action — ultimately unsuccessful — to retain British taxpayer-funded security services while he and his family lived in California in the United States.

Now, having returned to Britain with their children — seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet — Harry and Meghan are reportedly continuing their efforts to have police protection restored for them.

According to AFP on Tuesday (15/9/2026), the family have reportedly chosen to live in the Cotswolds, an area in central England that is popular among celebrities. They have enrolled both children at a private school whose name has not been disclosed to the public.

A report by Hello! magazine stated that the distance to the school and heavy traffic on the route raised security concerns.

“The decision to move the children’s school was made following discussions with the family’s security team about the practical aspects of their current security arrangements,” a spokesperson for Harry and Meghan, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, told the magazine.

Harry and Meghan’s team has yet to comment on the reports.

According to local media reports, Harry and his family currently use private security services. However, Harry has asked the British government to step in and provide police protection for himself and his family.

The Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec), which is responsible for the protection of public figures and members of the royal family, held a meeting last week to discuss protection for the prince’s family.

According to the BBC, Ravec will carry out an in-depth review of the threats faced by the Duke of Sussex and his wife.

King Charles III has stated that Harry and Meghan are no longer regarded as “members of the royal family carrying out official duties” following their return to Britain from the United States. In a letter released in the King’s name, it was stated that Harry and Meghan’s position is the same as that of “ordinary citizens”.
