The General Chairman of Peradi Profesional, Prof. Harris Arthur Hedar, has reminded advocates of the vital importance of upholding the dignity, professionalism, and integrity of the profession. He delivered this message during the inauguration of the Regional Leadership Board (DPD) of Peradi Profesional DKI Jakarta for the 2026-2031 term.

“This inauguration serves as an important momentum in the journey and consolidation of the Peradi Profesional organisation in the regions, particularly in DKI Jakarta,” Harris stated in a written release on Sunday (30/8/2026).

The inauguration took place at the JW Marriott Hotel, Kuningan, Jakarta, last Friday (28/8). Harris emphasised that the event was not merely a ceremonial change of leadership, but the beginning of a long journey to safeguard the dignity of advocates. He noted that this inauguration was special as it marks the first regional board inauguration since he assumed the role of General Chairman of Peradi Profesional.

“To all the newly inaugurated officials, I want to emphasise that you are not just serving as officials in Jakarta, but you are also setting the standard for Periente Profesional officials throughout Indonesia. What we initiate in Jakarta will be observed, assessed, and, God willing, serve as an example for other regions,” he said.

Harris stressed that the DKI Jakarta DPD must serve as a showcase for the organisation, being institutionally strong, orderly in governance, dignified in conduct, high-quality in member services, and providing a real contribution to society and law enforcement.

“Peradi Profesional was not created merely to increase the number of advocate organisations in Indonesia. Our presence must bring value, quality, and change. We want to build an advocate organisation that makes professionalism, integrity, competence, independence, and the honour of the profession its primary foundation, in accordance with the meaning of Officium Nobile, which is the basis of an advocate,” he said.

He added that the name ‘Profesional’ attached to the organisation carries a significant responsibility.

“Every advocate within this great institution must continuously improve their competence, maintain integrity, possess courage, and demonstrate quality through real service,” he explained.

Four Mandates for the New Officials

On this occasion, Harris entrusted four mandates to the newly inaugurated DKI Jakarta DPD officials. These include upholding the good name and dignity of the organisation, making the DKI Jakarta DPD a centre for improving advocate quality, maintaining the code of ethics and professional honour, and being present and beneficial to the community.

“I do not want Peradi Profesional to be visible only during inaugurations, seminars, or ceremonial activities. I want the public to know us because of our benefits and our service,” he said.

As a regional board located in the capital, Harris believes the Peradi Profesional DKI Jakarta DPD bears a strategic responsibility, as Jakarta is the centre of government, law enforcement, the economy, business, diplomacy, and various national and international institutions.

“Advocates are not just a profession, but one of the important pillars in law enforcement that holds a great responsibility towards justice and the protection of people’s rights. Advocates must not only be present when a client’s interests require defence. Advocates must also be present when the law and justice require the courage to be fought for,” he said.

He expressed hope that the DKI Jakarta DPD could become a barometer for Peradi Profesional throughout Indonesia through tangible work, benefits for members, and contributions to the community, nation, and state.

During the same event, Harris also touched upon advocate professional education. He hopes that Peradi Profesional DKI Jakarta can strengthen the Special Advocate Professional Education (PKPA) and the Advocate Professional Education (PPA) to build a high-quality legal profession.

According to him, PKPA and PPA are essential parts of building a generation of advocates who not only master the law theoretically but also possess professional skills, ethics, integrity, and the ability to face developments in legal practice, both nationally and globally.

Peradi Profesional is also encouraging cooperation with universities and various related institutions to bring together academic strength with practical legal experience.
