Harmony in Diversity: Cap Go Meh Parade at SCBD Amid Ramadan Blessings
Jakarta – The Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD) has once again affirmed its position as a centre for cultural convergence and modern lifestyle by hosting the pinnacle of the 2026 Lunar New Year celebrations titled “Ride To Luck” – Cap Go Meh Festival. This was announced by Ananta Pribadi, Director of PT Creative Event Entertainment (CEE), during the closing ceremony of the “Ride To Luck” – Cap Go Meh Festival in the SCBD area, Jakarta, on Sunday (1 March 2026).
“This year’s celebration feels particularly special as it coincides with the sanctity of the holy month of Ramadan,” said Ananta.
Ananta explained that Cap Go Meh is the celebration of the 15th day and also marks the conclusion of the Lunar New Year celebrations in Chinese tradition. Historically, he said, Cap Go Meh symbolises the peak of joy, an expression of gratitude, prayers for safety, and hopes for good fortune in the new year.
In Indonesia, he continued, this celebration has evolved into a symbol of cultural acculturation, where Chinese traditions blend harmoniously with local cultures such as Betawi, Malay, and other Nusantara traditions. Ananta stated that its presence reflects how cultural diversity can flourish side by side and enrich the nation’s identity.
“With the theme ‘Ride To Luck’, SCBD presents a spirit of optimism and forward momentum towards good fortune,” he said.
Amidst global dynamics and economic challenges, he continued, SCBD invites all layers of society to continue moving forward with confidence and a spirit of togetherness towards a better future. Ananta noted that this year’s celebration has become a rare and meaningful moment.
The convergence of Cap Go Meh tradition as a symbol of new hope with the blessings of Ramadan creates a dynamic atmosphere of harmony in the heart of Jakarta as a global city.
“We believe true luck is born from peace within diversity. The ‘Ride To Luck’ celebration is not merely a visual spectacle, but a tangible expression of tolerance, where the spirit of Lunar New Year and Cap Go Meh walk hand in hand with Ramadan’s blessings,” concluded Ananta.
