Harley drivers' charity night

JAKARTA (JP): The city chapter of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) will be holding a charity night at the New Sturdust Discotheque on Friday.

The highlight of the event is an auction of the members' Harley accessories, which is expected to raise Rp 40 million. The money raised will be distributed to needy children, HOG Jakarta chairman Cornelio Vega said.

HOG Jakarta, which now has 510 members, was established in 1998 to bring members together, create a positive image of Harley drivers and to promote tourism. HOG also organizes social activities.

There is a negative perception of HOG as the public see it as an exclusive group whose members do not respect traffic regulations or other road users. (sim)
