Harley-Davidson Rider's Fatal Crash with Child in South Sulawesi Settled Amicably

Toraja Utara Police in South Sulawesi have suspended the detention of Harley-Davidson rider RR (42), who caused the death of a 10-year-old child. Authorities confirmed both parties agreed to resolve the case through restorative justice (RJ). “The victim’s family voluntarily requested the accident case be settled via restorative justice mechanisms,” said Traffic Police Chief Iptu Muhammad Nasrum Sujana, as reported by detikSulsel on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. Nasrum added that the suspect’s full cooperation and adherence to legal procedures during the investigation justified the suspension of detention. Both sides agreed on peace terms, including the suspect’s apology and deep condolences, which were sincerely accepted by the victim’s family. The fatal accident occurred on Thursday, 30 April at approximately 5pm WITA in Sendana Buntu Pare, Nanggala Sangpiak Salu Village, Nanggala District, when RR was riding with members of the HOG Indonesia club.
