Hariyanto Arbi number one, Susi Susanti number two
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's Hariyanto Arbi climbed to number one in the world after winning the Singapore Open in July, pushing China's Dong Jiong into second place.
The International Badminton Federation (IBF) ranks China's Sun Jun, the World Cup champion, third. Denmark's Olympic gold medalist Poul-Erik Hoyer-Larsen, who won the Russia Open last week, is fourth.
Despite losing to Ong Ewe Hock in the round-robin match of the World Cup in Yogyakarta last month, Hari earned more points than Dong, who was beaten by Indonesia's Indra Wijaya at the same event.
Indonesia's Ardy B Wiranata is seventh, followed by Indra at ninth, and Joko Suprianto in 11th place.
Antara reported that China's Ye Zhaoying is still number one in the women's singles. Arch rival Susi Susanti of Indonesia, who beat her in the World Cup, is second.
Indonesia's Mia Audina is fourth.
Men's doubles world champions Candra Wijaya/Sigit Budiarto are still on top despite their World Cup loss, while seniors Ricky Subagdja/Rexy Mainaky, the Olympic gold medalists, are fourth. Antonius/Denny Kantono are in the fifth spot.
In the women's doubles, China's strongest duo Ge Fei/Gu Jun are top with Indonesia's Elysa/Zelin Resiana second.
Indonesian duo Deyana Lomban/Indarti Issoliana are in fourth place.
In the mixed doubles China's Liu Yong/Ge Fei topped the ladder with Indonesia's Tri Kusharjanto/Minarti Timur in second place.
