Jakarta (ANTARA) - Haris Rusly Moti, the initiator of the 98 Resolution Network, has urged all elements of society to safeguard national unity as an effort to confront global geopolitical shocks that could potentially impact domestic economic and social stability.

“It is our moral obligation without exception to maintain that situation for our collective safety,” Haris stated in a written release in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He assessed that a conducive national stability, both economically and politically, is a crucial factor amid global uncertainties. According to him, this condition must be maintained collectively so that Indonesia is not more deeply affected by world geopolitical dynamics.

Haris also highlighted the government’s dialogic approach in responding to differing views in society. He noted that channels of communication remain open, including to criticism of government policies.

“Prof Dasco even frequently attends formal and informal discussion forums and directly listens to critical views from various groups across different spectrums. It is utterly unreasonable for any party to claim that the government is anti-criticism and anti-dialogue,” he said.

In the context of managing priority programmes, Haris stated that public criticism is part of the improvement process in governance, including for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. He assessed that the government has responded to such criticism through corrective measures.

“This is proof that President Prabowo does not turn a blind eye and ear to criticism and corrections regarding the governance of the national nutrition equity programme through MBG,” he said.

He added that improvements in governance are important, given that several previous social programmes still face challenges in implementation.

“Moreover, the programme newly initiated by President Prabowo, which has only been running for just over a year, we certainly acknowledge is not yet perfect in its execution and still requires improvements at the governance level,” Haris said.

Regarding global conditions, Haris assessed that several countries are currently facing serious pressures due to energy crises and supply chain disruptions. However, he believes Indonesia has relatively managed to maintain stability in energy supplies and basic needs.

“However, domestically, we give thanks to God; thanks to President Prabowo’s hard work, he has succeeded in ensuring stable and affordable energy supplies,” he said.

He also emphasised the importance of the government’s anticipatory policies, including accelerating the food self-sufficiency programme as an effort to reduce import dependency amid global uncertainties.

“We can now stand tall without worry of rice shortages; that too is due to the government’s success in implementing the food self-sufficiency programme,” he asserted.

According to Haris, stability is not only understood from the political and security aspects but must also encompass economic aspects that directly impact society, such as prices of basic necessities, industrial continuity, and worker protection.

“We can imagine if the economic situation is unstable, prices of necessities spiral out of control, then many factories could close and layoffs occur, harming workers,” he said.

He also urged all stakeholders, including state apparatus, to maintain integrity in implementing government programmes to prevent deviations.

“We continue to call for prioritising common interests as fellow children of the nation. We should be able to struggle together to survive together in facing geopolitical destabilisation and the threat of world war,” Haris said.

Through various priority programmes, according to him, the government is striving to promote equitable welfare and strengthen national resilience amid increasingly complex global pressures.
