Hardiknas 2026, Mendikti: Students and University Students Should Not Fear Dreaming Big
JAKARTA - The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendikti Saintek) Brian Yuliarto called on students and university students not to fear dreaming big because Indonesia’s future is in their hands.
This call was delivered by Brian while leading the commemoration ceremony for National Education Day (Hardiknas) 2026 at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology office in Central Jakarta on Saturday (2/5/2026).
“To the students and university students, continue to learn, ask questions, experiment, and create. Do not be afraid to dream big. Indonesia’s future is not inherited; it is built through character, knowledge, collaboration, and the courage to take steps,” said Brian in his address.
Because, in their hands, the future of the Indonesian nation is planted and nurtured every day.
Brian continued that National Education Day is a momentum to reaffirm the meaning of education as a path to humanising humans, building character, enlightening the nation’s life, and advancing civilisation.
He mentioned that Ki Hajar Dewantara has bequeathed educational values through the principles of asah, asih, and asuh, which are considered important to continue for enlightening the mind, fostering empathy, and guiding humans to become whole individuals.
“Education is not only about what we know, but about who we become,” said Brian.
“The state, families, schools, universities, society, business world, educators, researchers, students, and university students, all are architects of Indonesia’s future,” he said.
He asked parents, society, the business world, and all stakeholders to take an active role in supporting education.
“Because strong education is not built by one party, but through the mutual cooperation of the entire nation,” stated Brian.
As is known, National Education Day is commemorated every 2 May, taken from the birth date of the Indonesian education figure, Ki Hajar Dewantara.
