On Dec. 27, 2000, a teenage girl called Yanti came to my younger brother's house on Jl. Pahlawan Revolusi in Pondok Bambu, East Jakarta, offering to work as a housemaid. About 150 centimeters tall, she is of medium build with dark skin, straight hair cut in a bob and with bangs and slightly slit eyes.

As my brother was then in dire need of a housemaid, the girl got the job right away. She told my brother that she had previously worked somewhere in Grogol, West Jakarta.

She gave my brother an identity card with the name of another person, who she claimed was her elder sister. Aged 16, she said she did not have an identity card of her own.

About midday on Jan. 3, she ran off with a cellular phone. This has been reported to East Jakarta's Duren Sawit Police. So beware of a girl who fits the above description. Who knows, she may drop in at your house offering to work as a housemaid.
