Happy Hapsoro's Listed Company Plans to Acquire 5% Stake in Malaysian Conglomerate's Firm

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The energy listed company owned by Happy Hapsoro, husband of the Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani, PT Rukun Raharja Tbk (RAJA), plans to acquire 5% of the shares in PT Layar Nusantara Gas (PT LNG), which is affiliated with a major Malaysian conglomerate. PT LNG is known as a developer of midstream facilities and the first Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) vessel in Indonesia. The value of the share purchase amounts to US38.57million, equivalenttoapproximatelyRp635billion(assuminganexchangerateofRp16, 500/US). RAJA’s management stated that on 8 May 2026, the company had made a deposit payment to Genting LNG Pte. Ltd. That entity is a subsidiary owned indirectly by 95% by Genting Berhad, a conglomerate from Malaysia. For information, Genting Berhad is part of the Genting Group, one of Malaysia’s largest conglomerates with businesses in the casino, hospitality, plantation, and energy sectors. The group was founded in 1965 by the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong and is now led by Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay. “The company is optimistic that this initiative will expand the business portfolio, increase competitiveness, and provide significant added value for all stakeholders,” as quoted in the disclosure to the Indonesia Stock Exchange on Monday (11/5/2026). RAJA emphasised that the implementation of the share acquisition plan is still subject to the fulfilment of the conditions and terms agreed upon by the parties in accordance with applicable regulations.
