Pasar Senen Station in Central Jakarta has begun filling with holiday travellers today. Several of them are participating in a free travel programme.

One such beneficiary is Ubay, a native of Lamongan in East Java. He stated that he obtained free travel arranged by a state-owned enterprise.

“I was planning to travel home to Lamongan, and we happened to receive free travel from a state-owned company,” Ubay said when encountered at Pasar Senen Station on Monday (16 March 2026).

Ubay explained that the free travel programme required him to depart today. Nevertheless, he felt that travelling today was still consistent with his preferences.

“The free travel programme was scheduled for today. We actually wanted to travel closer to Lebaran, but I think this is sufficient for four days before Lebaran,” he said.

Ubay mentioned numerous activities he plans to undertake whilst in Lamongan. He also expressed longing for the rural atmosphere of Lamongan alongside wanting to refresh himself.

“There are many things we can do there, since our place of origin is there. So in addition to visiting our extended family, there are longings related to the rural atmosphere. The culture in Jakarta and the culture in our village are quite different. So it is also a form of refreshment,” Ubay said.

In addition to Ubay, there is Irfan, who is travelling today from Pasar Senen Station. Irfan, who works as an office employee in South Jakarta, plans to travel to Bandung.

“I want to travel to Bandung, using the Cikuray train which goes towards Garut,” Irfan said.

Irfan stated that he had planned his departure before Ramadan. He said he had secured his ticket before the fasting month began.

“Yes, I did plan for today. Thank goodness I got my ticket before the fasting month, since I also needed to coordinate with Lebaran which falls on a weekend this year,” he said.

He stated his plan to exercise with his neighbours after arriving in Bandung. He expressed longing for his childhood playmates from his neighbourhood.

“The plan is to do several things: visit family through greetings and tomb visits, and also spend time with neighbours. I also arranged with my childhood friends to exercise together—whether it’s futsal or badminton, we’ll see what’s available,” Irfan said.

“I’ve been playing with them since childhood, our houses are close by, and we went to the same school. So whenever I visit Bandung, we at least get together,” he added.
