Hanura shifts cadre mindset: Consolidation must not wait for elections
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chairman of the Hanura Party’s Central Executive Board (DPP) Task Force, Patrice Rio Capella, has urged cadres of the lion-head logo party to change their mindset so that organisational consolidation and the strengthening of party structures are no longer conducted only in anticipation of elections.
“The most significant problem is laziness, because there is a habit of waiting until near the election,” Rio stated in a statement received in Jakarta.
He made these remarks after leading a consolidation meeting with the DPD, DPC, and regency and city-level party officials across Jambi Province in Jambi City on Friday. The meeting was attended by approximately 75 individuals, including chairpersons, secretaries, and treasurers.
According to him, this habit must change because political parties must possess structures and organisational machinery that operate continuously, regardless of whether there is an active political agenda.
“Today, the task force is changing the mindset and way of thinking regarding party management. Whether or not there is a verification process, party consolidation at the sub-district and village levels must be established,” he said.
Rio noted that this consolidation pattern is being implemented through task force visits to various regions. Out of the 12 provinces visited so far, he observed that Hanura’s ranks are beginning to align on the importance of building party structures hierarchically.
He mentioned that these visits have been conducted across several provinces in Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Nusa Tenggara, and Bali, with Jambi being the 12th province visited by the task force.
Rio stated that Hanura aims to complete the entire structure of the branch advisory boards (DPC) and sub-branch leadership (PAC) in Jambi Province by the end of September or, at the latest, early October 2026.
The structural strengthening will then continue down to the village and neighbourhood levels, ensuring Hanura’s political machinery in Jambi can begin operating early in preparation for the 2029 General Election.
He targets the task force’s visits to the remaining 26 provinces to be completed by the end of October 2026 at the latest. Once all regions have been consolidated, Hanura will undertake a national rebranding in early 2027.
With a structure that begins working early, the party hopes to have sufficient time to build rapport with the community before entering the 2029 election stages.
Rio added that Hanura also aims to secure one seat in the House of Representatives (DPR RI) from Jambi Province in the 2029 General Election.
