Hanoi meet to vote on Cambodia

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Cambodia's admission to the Southeast
Asian bloc is to be decided at the ASEAN summit in Hanoi next
month, Malaysia's foreign minister was quoted as saying on
Tuesday.

But Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said its admission to the
Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) would depend on
the formation of a legitimate government, the official Bernama
news agency reported.

Badawi was speaking after a meeting of the ASEAN Consultation
Council chaired by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on the
sidelines of the APEC summit here.

He said the ASEAN leaders agreed unanimously to "wait and see"
whether a government could be formed in Cambodia before deciding
on its entry.
