Hannah Asa Indonesia and IDX collaborate to enhance investment literacy among students
Palu (ANTARA) - Hannah Asa Indonesia and the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Central Sulawesi are collaborating to increase investment literacy among students, ensuring they understand investment products, risks, legality, and investor protection within the capital market.
“Access alone is not enough. As more people gain access to investment, we also need to ensure they have the ability to understand products, risks, legality, and how to obtain protection as an investor,” said Mardiyah, Founder of Hannah Asa Indonesia, in Palu on Thursday.
Hannah Asa Indonesia is an educational and community empowerment institution operating in the fields of financial literacy, young women’s empowerment, Sharia financial planning, and MSME capacity building.
Mardiyah stated that the increasing public access to investment must be accompanied by the ability to understand the choices and consequences of financial decisions made. According to her, students, as part of the group of financial service users, need to be equipped with an understanding that is not merely oriented towards potential profits, but also regarding risks and investment mechanisms.
“We want students to not only ask ‘how much profit can I make?’, but also to start asking: what are the risks, how does it work, is it legal, and how do I, as an investor, receive protection?” she said.
She conveyed this during the Capital Market School activity themed “Safe Investment: Recognising the Role of Self-Regulatory Organisations and the Guarantee of Indonesian Capital Market Investor Protection” at the Muhammadiyah University of Palu.
The activity was a collaboration between the IDX, PT Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (KSEI), PT Kliring Penjaminan Efek Indonesia (KPEI), the Indonesia Securities Investor Protection Fund (Indonesia SIPF), the IDX Student Club of Muhammadiyah University of Palu, and the Hannah Asa Indonesia IDX Student Club.
The Head of the IDX Central Sulawesi Representative Office, Putri Irnawati, stated that the educational collaboration with Muhammadiyah University of Palu and Hannah Asa Indonesia is expected to strengthen participants’ understanding of the functions of each Self-Regulatory Organisation (SRO), capital market mechanisms, and investor protection aspects.
