Hankook Tire Indonesia Records 130% Sales Growth in PCR Segment in First Half of 2026
PT Hankook Tire Sales Indonesia (HTSI) recorded double-digit business growth in its Passenger Car Radial (PCR) and Truck & Bus Radial (TBR) segments in semester I-2026 compared with the same period the previous year.
The achievement was driven by the ‘The Right Tire for the Right Vehicle’ strategy, through the development of a tyre portfolio designed to meet the needs of various vehicle segments amid the transformation of Indonesia’s automotive industry.
Bartek (Byunghak) Choi, President Director of PT Hankook Tire Sales Indonesia, said the company’s business growth was driven not only by the positive momentum of the automotive industry, but also by a strategy of continually offering tyre solutions increasingly relevant to market needs. This has been realised through strengthening the product portfolio and expanding tyre size options in the PCR and TBR lines, enabling Hankook to reach many more vehicle types now developing and circulating in Indonesia.
“The automotive industry is moving towards an increasingly specialised era. Electric vehicles, SUVs and commercial vehicles each have different characteristics and therefore require different tyre technologies. That is why we believe ‘the right tire for the right vehicle’ is not merely a spirit we carry, but an approach capable of delivering safety, efficiency and optimal performance for every vehicle,” said Choi, quoted from his statement on Monday, 3 August 2026.
Amid the growth of the national automotive industry, PT Hankook Tire Sales Indonesia has observed consumers’ shifting needs towards more specific tyres. According to GAIKINDO data, wholesale vehicle sales grew 15.9 per cent in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period the previous year. The growth was driven by electric vehicle (EV) sales surging by more than 80 per cent, accompanied by rising demand for SUVs and commercial vehicles, thereby boosting the need for tyres specifically designed to support each vehicle’s characteristics.
In the PCR segment, Hankook recorded sales growth of 130 per cent in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period the previous year. The achievement was supported by the company’s strategy of strengthening its tyre portfolio in line with developments in each vehicle segment, including electric vehicles, which continue to show rapid growth in Indonesia. One implementation of this strategy has been realised through the development of the Hankook iON line, a tyre specially designed for electric vehicles (EV-specialised tyre).
