Amid rising prices of basic necessities that tend to occur every year during Ramadan, PT Hankook Tire Indonesia (HTI) held its 13th CSR Basic Food Donation programme. Not only as a moment of sharing, but also as a form of ongoing concern for communities across villages in the Cikarang Pusat district, particularly in Desa Cicau, the area closest to the company’s operations.

In this year’s activity, HTI distributed 1,125 basic food packages, or Rp235 million in value, prioritising recipients among the poor, the destitute and orphans, with beneficiaries selected in accordance with official local government data to ensure the aid reaches the right people.

President Director of HTI Jung Jinkyun said the programme demonstrates the company’s commitment to building public trust and serves as a symbol of togetherness between the company and the surrounding community that has grown side-by-side for more than a decade. ‘Through the assistance distributed, we are also supporting residents in the Cikarang Pusat district in meeting their Ramadan needs, especially those who are in need,’ he said.

In addition to the basic food distribution, the event also included charitable gifts to orphans and an iftar gathering with residents of Desa Cicau, creating a warm space for camaraderie among management, employees and the community. Several employees were directly involved in the distribution process in each village, reinforcing the spirit of mutual aid and social empathy within the company.

The activity was symbolically received by the acting sub-district head of Cikarang Pusat, Mamat Raharjo, who expressed appreciation. For 13 years, HTI has been cited as showing consistent and notable care for the people of Cikarang Pusat. ‘This assistance is a form of attention and togetherness that the residents greatly feel,’ he said.

As part of the Ramadhan Festival series, HTI also channelled donations to orphans via Paramadina University. Furthermore, in anticipation of the forthcoming Eid al-Fitr, Hankook Tire Indonesia also organised the Mudik Bareng programme, providing 10 buses to accommodate more than 600 employees to destinations across Central Java and East Java. The initiative aims to ensure the employees’ travel home is safe, orderly and comfortable.

Since commencing operations in Cikarang in 2013, HTI has continued to provide tangible contributions to the Bekasi Regency community through programmes in health, education, infrastructure, socio-religious activities and the environment. The commitment is part of the company’s sustainability ethos, emphasising environmental, social and governance (ESG).
