Hankook introduces Ventus evo for premium and high-performance vehicles
Jakarta (ANTARA) - South Korean tyre manufacturer Hankook Tire has introduced the latest generation of Ventues S1 evo3, known as Ventus evo, as an ultra-high performance (UHP) tyre for premium and high-performance vehicles in Indonesia.
Globally, Ventus technology has been utilised by over 30 automotive manufacturers, including Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi. In Indonesia, this technology has also been used in several racing events, including the Indonesia Sentul Series of Motorsport (ISSOM) 2024 and the Pertamina 6 Hours Endurance 2026 in Mandalika.
“The world of motorsport serves as a proving ground for high-performance tyre technology. Every development must be able to meet the demands of grip, control, and stability under extremely harsh conditions,” said Bartek Choi, President Director of PT Hankook Tire Sales Indonesia, in a written statement on Thursday.
“Through Ventus evo, we are bringing this proven technology to premium vehicles, allowing drivers to experience better performance, control, and confidence in daily use,” added Bartek.
He explained that Ventus evo is designed with optimal braking and handling on both wet and dry roads, while simultaneously offering increased mileage.
In two comparative tests from the AUTO BILD Summer Tire Test 2026, the Ventus evo in size 245/45 R19 achieved first place with a score of 1.1. The tyre demonstrated performance advantages in both dry and wet handling aspects, achieving the best result in dry braking and second best in wet braking.
Ventus evo also secured first place in the AUTO BIDL Allrad Summer Tire Test 2026 for size 255/45 R19. In that test, Ventus evo was the best-performing tyre in wet conditions, with the fastest wet handling at 89.1 km/h and a wet braking distance of 50.2 metres from a speed of 100 km/h. The tyre also recorded top performance in dry braking and dry handling.
“The two recognitions from AUTO BILD demonstrate that the Ventus evo is capable of providing consistent performance on both wet and dry roads. This tyre is designed to provide responsive braking and dynamic handling, even when compared to premium tyres from other brands,” Bartek continued.
These advantages are reflected in the performance improvements of Ventus evo compared to its predecessor, the Ventus S1 evo3, which includes a 4 per cent increase in wet handling.
On dry roads, 3D Chamfer Technology helps distribute pressure more evenly across the tread surface, resulting in a braking improvement of up to 6 per cent during dry braking compared to the previous model.
Ventus evo is designed with an optimised stiffness pattern that helps balance block stiffness and distribute pressure more evenly across the entire tread surface. A combination of sipes, lateral grooves, and tie-bars helps achieve more even wear.
As a result, the mileage of Ventus evo has increased by up to 32 per cent compared to the previous version. This was also reflected in the AUTO BILD testing, where Ventus evo recorded a projected mileage of 56,310 km, claiming to be the most economical tyre based on cost per 1,000 km among 20 finalists selected from 50 initial candidates.
“Ventus evo carries a simple philosophy: ‘Premium Sport Performance, Built to Last’. We want drivers to get the response and control they expect from a premium sport tyre, while also gaining the durability that allows that performance to be enjoyed for longer, particularly for consumers in Indonesia,” Bartek explained.
Globally, Ventus evo has also been used as original equipment (OE) on several premium global vehicles, including the Audi A4, Audi A5, Volkswagen, and BMW X5. For the Indonesian market, Ventus evo is available in various sizes ranging from 17 to 22 inches to meet the needs of premium and high-performance passenger vehicles.
