Hanif Faisol Officially Hands Over Environment Minister Position to Jumhur Hidayat

The handover ceremony (sertijab) took place at the Ministry of the Environment building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (29/4/2026). The event was attended by several Ministry of the Environment staff.

The ceremony began with the singing of the national anthem ‘Indonesia Raya’. It was then followed by both signing the handover minutes.

“Matters that are not yet completed during my tenure, with permission Minister, will certainly become your task in its implementation,” said Hanif in his speech.

Hanif also conveyed an apology to the Ministry of the Environment staff if there were any mistakes during his service. He hoped that Jumhur could lead the Ministry of the Environment to be even better.

“Certainly there are still many shortcomings during my work, once again I apologise profusely. Hopefully under the new Minister’s leadership, new enthusiasm will emerge, new creations will emerge,” he stated.

On the same occasion, Jumhur touched on development and the environment. He assessed that economic and environmental affairs must run in tandem.

“I briefly studied Prabowonomics, the exploitation of natural resources must not exceed the limits of what is allowed. And there must be restrictions, and must comply with all rules in such extractive industries,” said Jumhur.

“We ensure that all investments comply with the existing environmental regulations in Indonesia,” he added.

It is known that President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Jumhur Hidayat as the Minister of the Environment (LH) on Monday (27/4). In addition to Jumhur, Prabowo also inaugurated several other officials.
