Hanif Faisol Hands Over Documents and Plaque, Jumhur Confirmed as Environment Minister
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry officially conducted the handover of duties from Environment Minister for the 2024-2026 period, Hanif Faisol, to the new Environment Minister for the 2026-2029 period, Jumhur Hidayat.
The handover process, or passing of the baton, took place around 3:28 PM WIB, symbolised by the presentation of documents and a plaque.
Hanif, now serving as Deputy Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, expressed his thanks to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry staff for their input and hard work during his tenure as Environment Minister.
“Once again, on behalf of myself and my family, I say a big thank you. Without the hard work, sweat, and time from all of you, I might not be standing in this place, the most proud place,” Hanif said in his remarks at the Environment Minister handover ceremony on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
He advised the Ministry of Environment and Forestry staff and the new Environment Minister to continue the programmes that were not yet realised during his time.
“Once again, congratulations on continuing the struggle for Indonesia. I am confident and believe that with a stronger environmental capacity, we can welcome Golden Indonesia 2045,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the new Environment Minister, Jumhur Hidayat, stated that he would continue Hanif Faisol’s programmes when he is entrusted as minister.
“I will continue the programmes of Mr Hanif Faisol that have not yet been realised, one of which is the waste issue. President Prabowo’s commitment is extraordinary, that waste is to become our national priority programme. In the next 2-3 years, waste matters must be resolved,” Jumhur said.
He added that the waste issue could be quickly resolved if programmes are implemented with coordination between ministries and agencies.
“We should, if oriented towards cross-departmental, cross-ministerial output, be able to resolve it,” he clarified.
