Handling of Rubbish Piles at Kramat Jati Market Targeted for Completion on 10 April 2026
Perumda Pasar Jaya is targeting the completion of rubbish pile handling at the Kramat Jati Main Market in East Jakarta by Friday (10/4/2026). “Insya Allah in the next three days it will be finished. On Friday (10/4) we target all handling to be completed,” said the Director General of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Agus Himawan, quoted by Antara on Wednesday (8/4/2026). This target is a follow-up to the deadline given by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, regarding the acceleration of rubbish issues in the Kramat Jati Main Market area. In this acceleration effort, Pasar Jaya is deploying dozens of rubbish transport fleets every day. Agus explained that on average there are about 40 rubbish transport trips per day. With that capacity, the volume of rubbish successfully transported reaches around 600 to 700 tonnes every day. “Alhamdulillah, we are working together with the Environmental Agency. Almost 40 trips every day. That is equivalent to 600 to 700 tonnes of rubbish that we transport,” he stated. According to Agus, this step is carried out as part of efforts to normalise the market’s environmental conditions which were once filled with rubbish piles. In addition to transporting rubbish to processing sites, Pasar Jaya is also preparing long-term solutions to address similar problems so they do not recur. One of the efforts being prepared is the operation of an incinerator machine or rubbish burning machine in the market area. However, Agus mentioned that the equipment is currently still in the trial stage. “That is still in trial. Later we will announce it soon when it starts operating,” he said. With this system, it is hoped that the volume of rubbish that must be transported to the final disposal site can be significantly reduced. In addition, cross-agency collaboration is key in accelerating rubbish handling at the Kramat Jati Main Market. Not only focusing on short-term handling, Pasar Jaya is also committed to building a more sustainable system to maintain the cleanliness and comfort of the market environment.
