Handing Over Rafale Jets and Missiles to TNI, Prabowo: This is a Milestone in Increasing Indonesia's Strength
President Prabowo Subianto has handed over a number of military defence assets, including missiles, to the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). He stated that this handover represents a milestone in the expansion of Indonesia’s national strength.
“So, we are officially receiving, according to our customs, the addition of defence assets for our air force. We are receiving six fighter jets, specifically the Rafale, as well as transport aircraft, the Falcon VIP transport, and the A4 . There are also radars,” said Prabowo at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, on Monday (18/06/2026).
Prabowo spoke about the necessity of increasing Indonesia’s national defence capabilities. According to him, this military enhancement serves as a deterrent to ensure Indonesia is capable of protecting its own territory from various potential threats.
“Therefore, brothers, I believe this is one of the milestones in increasing our strength. We must continuously enhance our defence capabilities as a deterrent. We have no interests other than protecting our own territory,” he stated.
He assessed that defence is a primary requirement for creating national stability. Consequently, the government will continue to build and strengthen defence capabilities in the future.
“Looking at the global situation, geopolitics is full of uncertainty, and we know that defence is the primary requirement for stability and the guarantee that we can remain sovereign,” he added.
“I believe that is the core point; in the future, we will continue to build our strength. We want to secure our airspace, our maritime territory, and certainly our land territory,” he continued.
The handover ceremony took place at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on Monday (18/06/2026) at 10:00 WIB. The assets delivered included six Rafale fighter jets, four Falcon 8X aircraft, and one Airbus A400M Atlas MRTT.
In addition to the aircraft, the handover included GCI GM403 Radar weaponry, as well as Meteor Air-to-Air Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missiles and AASM Hammer smart weapons, which are part of the Rafale’s arsenal.
Following the handover of the keys, Prabowo inspected several of the military assets on-site. The President began his inspection at the Rafale cockpit, examining the Hammer smart weapons and Meteor missiles, before proceeding to inspect the GCI GM403 Radar.
